Royal Selangor ushers in an exciting 2023 and the Lunar New Year with a brand new store launch at Plaza Indonesia. Located at Level 3 Lot #50 and #51, the store is designed to create an all-encompassing retail experience for visitors and customers and possesses a luxurious and welcoming facade.

The store carries a wide assortment of home décor, lifestyle essentials, collectibles and gift items, suitable for family, friends and colleagues, and year-round celebrations and festivities.

Royal Selangor introduces the Year of the Rabbit collection for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, comprising a limited edition plaque, wealth bowl, figurine and seal. The collection, inspired by the myth of the Great Race, is decorated with auspicious and meaningful motifs and is embellished with 24K gold. We also have many other oriental collections, such as Koi, Five Elements, and Benevolence.

Royal Selangor’s History

In 1885, a young pewtersmith named Yong Koon arrived in Malaya from the Chinese port of Shantou. Joining his brothers, Yong Koon made Chinese pewter altar paraphernalia and household items. When demand from his western customers increased, Yong Koon and his family expanded the production of western style items such as vases, figurines, cocktail shakers and more.

In 1979, the company received a royal warrant from the Sultan of Selangor. To reflect the royal endorsement and the diverse nature of the company, Selangor Pewter changed its name to Royal Selangor in 1992. It continues to be run by the fourth generation of the Yong family; Yong Yoon Li, Royal Selangor’s Managing Director, and his cousin, Chen Tien Yue, Royal Selangor’s Executive Director.

Royal Selangor has received many coveted industry accolades. Our in-house designers and artisans have bagged various awards, including the Gift of the Year Award from the Giftware Association of the United Kingdom and the Red Dot Award for Product Design from Germany’s Design Zentrum. Standing on its four pillars; heritage, branding, design and craftsmanship, Royal Selangor has expanded its presence to more than 20 countries, including Canada, China, Singapore, Australia, UK and more.

Royal Selangor’s Pewter

Our high-quality cast pewter consists of 92% to 97% tin, the highest international standard for pewter, with a small proportion of copper and antimony added to strengthen the alloy. All Royal Selangor products are lead-free and food-safe.
